Set in the centre of the beautiful regency harbour town of Aberaeron Ceredigion, Castle Hotel offers you a warm welcome to its bar, and a choice of 8 comfortable ensuite bedrooms
Under new ownership and management since the beginning of September 2023, The Castle Hotel’s new proprietors, Kurt Forward and Megan Burges are keen to welcome previous and new customers to their family-friendly bar hotel and restaurant.
The Castle Hotel, a Grade II listed building, is ideally situated for exploring Aberaeron’s stunning harbour, the abundance of small local independent shops, and Aberaeron’s two beaches - with South Beach generally having sand at states of low tide. There are also many wider seaside, shopping and countryside areas to explore. The Castle Hotel is situated only about 2.5-miles from Llanerchaeron - a modest gentleman’s residence, owned by the National Trust, which has a small working farm attached and quiet woodland walks. The Castle Hotel is 7-miles from the seaside town of New Quay, where one may sit on the pier with fish and chips and watch the dolphins, and only-14 miles from the University town of Aberystwyth with its shops, promenade and pier. There are many other hidden gems to explore within a short radius, such as the beaches at Llangrannog and a wonderful woodland walk to the beach at Penbryn. There are of course, many, many more exciting and picturesque areas to visit and explore.
The Hotel bar is dog-friendly, with hotel rooms available for people who would like to bring their (well-behaved) four-legged friends. Breakfast for Hotel guests is served in the restaurant, which is also available for private hire, with a personal chef who will cater for individual needs.
some background
Kurt and Megan first came to Aberaeron in 2016 and have lived here since 2020. Although Kurt originates from Napier in New Zealand, he and Megan met in Enniskillen, Northern Ireland when, aged 17-years old he moved to coach rugby at a local boy’s grammar school.
Kurt and Megan hope to reflect both the Welsh and New Zealand cultures in the hotel and bar, and are banking on some friendly rivalry between the two countries, especially during the rugby season!
Do come and visit, either for a holiday, or simply a drink in the bar or a bite to eat in the restaurant. Focusing on Welsh beers, ales and wines, Kurt and Megan have introduced some wine and coffee from New Zealand. You will be assured of a very warm welcome!
